Wikipedia waste ?
September 26th, 2011Did you know that Wikipedia had pages for numbers…
And it goes on and on…
Isn’t that some kind of waste of time ? database space ? Hard to tell if I think it’s funny or not…

After long months of work we finally have a certified Dolby Digital Plus decoder for GStreamer. This decoder will be part of the Fluendo codec pack’s next release. It’s an important milestone because this codec will get more and more traction in the future together with DTS HD which we are still working on.
Our next codec pack will also feature an hardware accelerated decoder supporting both VDPAU and VAAPI with runtime detection. This has been tested with various cards and driver versions (EMGD, IEGD, Poulsbo, VDPAU from Nvidia and Via, etc…) and is quite stable. We also implemented DXVA2 support but that’s for Windows so mostly for Moovida. AMD’s XVBA is next on our list.
Moovida’s 3D UI port for Linux is also going well as we are polishing the OpenGL backend for the Diesel game engine.
I am impatient to start coding on GStreamer 0.11 as Wim Taymans is doing some magic in there. We plan to release a Fluendo codec pack for GStreamer 0.11 for early adopters pretty quickly
That’s it for Fluendo’s news of the day, thanks for reading.
