Finally calm days are back (at least they seem to be)

Tons of things happened in my life and blogging really was the last of my worries for some months. Now that i can enjoy a quiet evening at home it’s time to dump some thoughts in a post.

End of summer has been quite stressing as our daughter’s birth was approaching at amazing speed. In just an eye blink the second of october was there and we had to run to the hospital to discover one of the most special experience i had in my life :-D

Sleeping a little while possible

Zoe is a very nice little girl, her weight was 3,2 kgs at birth and she was 50 cms tall. She has very nice blue eyes and it’s still hard to tell what will be her hair color.

One doubt i had has been confirmed immediatly : having a baby is completely killing my productivity at work. Lack of sleep, short days to get back home early, having a baby sitting on my knees makes it hard to hack with my standard keyboard. ;-)

But oh well, i’m a lucky guy … My Fluendo minions are working very well even if i m not really the very available boss they would like to have. Business is going very well, community’s feedback seems to be quite positive and i have the feeling that GStreamer is on the best track ever to rule the multimedia world.

Spanish winter dropped by with its 14 degrees sunny days and we really enjoy the week ends here with Zoe. Our catalan “amigos” are still investing a lot of efforts in their restaurant, it’s really hard for them but i can’t believe that such a good cooker like Guillem won’t make it. It’s easily one of the top 3 gastronomical restaurants from Spain and it’s in our village !

I finally forced myself to dive in python coding. After reading 80 pages i m already starting to love that language. You just feel a bit stupid when you see some beautiful functions gathering all your *.ogg files, assembling a list, introspecting objects to discover how to handle those files with only 3 or 4 lines of code when you ve been hacking some 500 lines long GObjects in C to do the exact same thing with some segfaults, memleaks, and ordering issues. But oh well… better now than later !
