A Spanish technology migration at WTC & IBC
WTC
The World Trade Center here in Barcelona is trying to migrate their parking ticketing system to be able to charge their customers per minute. When reading the mails they are sending to companies hosted in the WTC this seems like a serious process.
Indeed they informed us that on 29th of August the last step of this migration process was going to take place and that exceptionally during that day we would have to take a ticket instead of using our magnetic subscriber cards and then get back to their information desk to get a new magnetic card to get out of the parking (which would imply that this happens in the same day, right ?)
Since then the migration is going on and as of 04 of September our cards still don’t work. In the first days getting in and getting out was mostly a honking competition but they managed to organize themselves and now there is a guy waiting next to the entrance all day long to ask you if you are a subscriber and then open the barrier for you.
So if you want to park for free at the WTC just pretend you are a subscriber and you will then have VIP service with a smiling boy opening the barrier for you to get in and out. Let’s see how long that will last
IBC
I will be attending IBC on Thursday and Friday. Already have some meetings scheduled there but if you are attending too and want to discuss about GStreamer/Codecs/DVD player/Streaming drop me a note on the Fluendo website or a comment here and we’ll meet.
