Fluendo products on the P1r4t3 Scene !

Was quite funny today to find NFO release notes about our products on the web. So, the Fluendo codec pack and the DVD player are apparently “cracked”, packaged and released on the pirate scene with the following NFOs :

Codec pack

and

DVD player

Most companies would get angry about it but I can’t help smilingĀ  and think that this shows clear evidence that our products are getting popular. Also quite happy to not have to fight against those people with key generators etc…

Inevitable that this would happen, good to see that you aren’t going down the ridiculous path of punishing your paying customers with serials and so on.

Hi, although I feel bad that your products are being grabbed for free by people, my site doesn’t provide direct access to binary files - just links to search engines. If you like I’ll add web/buy links to the listing page sometime this week, so you’ll get a little more attention and hopefully some sales.

It’s refreshing to see someone accepting that digital piracy is huge and often not something you can fight against. Usually companies will see their product mentioned on our site and send in the lawyers! 100% unsuccessfully I hasten to add.

I have noticed that the products listed are not “cracked”, just packaged. I never say never, but the majority of “crackers” today work exclusively on windows software. Even simple copy protection methods usually ensure a linux product remains out of the piracy scene for a long time. It’s important to keep a good balance between mass exposure and serious profit loss though, maybe ride the wave of interest then implement keyfiles/serials/activation on the next release.

    Regards and good luck!

    How are they protected?
